''The hard truth is that absolutely each of our days is weighed down by the heavy burden of the past.....In essence I am saying that the end of the Cold War created the danger that the ability of the peoples of Africa to determine their destiny would be severely compromised and undermined, and hence the calls for a “new imperialism” in the statements I cited earlier....The US still asserts its manifest destiny to lead the world...It is convinced that its exceptionalism means that, as Secretary Clinton put it, “if you’ve got people who are choosing a different path, then you have to use all the tools of your suasion to try to convince them that the path that you wish to follow is also the one that is in their interest as well.”...It will use all means at its disposal to achieve its geo-strategic objectives....One of these, as explained by Kissinger, is the utilitarian use of democracy and human rights as instruments to achieve defined geo-strategic goals...'''More

The Centre for Mediation in Africa, the Department of Political Sciences and the Centre for Human Rights invite you to a panel discussion on the topic "Libya, the United Nations, the African Union and South Africa: Wrong moves? Wrong motives", to be addressed by Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Ebrahim Ebrahim, on 15 September 2011.
United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973 on Libya has proven to be extremely controversial. It mandates the imposition of a no-fly zone over Libya and resolves to take all necessary measures to protect civilians under threat of attack. Some Africans have been critical of South Africa and the other African countries that supported the resolution in their capacity as non-permanent members of the Security Council.
Many in France are blaming globalization for causing high youth unemployment and a stagnated, post recessionary economy. With the 2012 presidential election approaching, the theme of "deglobalization" appears to be growing in popularity due to its nationalistic appeal. Left-wing candidates, including member of Parliament Arnaud Montebourg, are advocating European-based protectionism, and saying that "globalization" has caused France's high rates of youth unemployment, destroyed natural resources, and made France vulnerable to the fluctuations of interconnected financial markets. While Montebourg is not a likely front-runner for the presidency, his surprising popularity has highlighted the French peoples' disillusionment and has prompted a discussion of globalization. Ideally, this will "force politicians to work harder on their answers", and they will work to improve France's economic recovery plans and their role in a globalized system....More
"....These rats and armed scum; are examples of their grandfathers. Each one of them is a clone and a mock-up of traitor-ship, they aren’t Libyan, ask about any of those that are backed by NATO; that destroys Libyan infrastructure and kills Libyan children; you’ll find that his grandfather and his dad were traitors. They carry the genes of traitors....Do you think those who carry the genes of traitors from their grandparents and great grandparents are going to decide the fate of the Libyan people? These people when they realize that the Libyan people have turned up the ratchet and have refused to accept them they revert to the dirty tricks of the villainous Arab TV channels and the gulf donkeys..." Peace be upon your viewers, I would like to apologise for my prolonged absence but we are fighting a battle for the good of all Arabs, Muslims & the world.
We are fighting in squares, rooms, valleys and villages. Therefore we often do not find the time to communicate with the media, despite our knowledge of the importance of media.
We are not fighting just armed rebels; we are fighting NATO, one of the biggest military forces despite its lack of morality and crippled morale.
We are under a complete siege in terms of communication and media and other perspectives however our consciousness is alive and our hearts are beating. The radiance of resistance and struggle beams from within us; we attain this from our piousness and our religiousness.
We have decided to either win or to be martyred with courage, like our brothers, sons, women and children. We will continue with this struggle until we are victorious.
According to Fox News, a Libyan rebel "spokesman" recently boasted, "in the end, we will get [the city of] Sirte, even if we have to cut water and electricity and let NATO pound it with airstrikes." Sirte is one of many cities still standing in defiance of NATO's operations to seize the nation of 6 million people, impose upon them an "internationally approved" government, and begin pilfering their resources under the guise of "economic liberalization." Rebels have intentionally surrounded Sirte to cut off electricity as well as the flow of supplies including food and cooking gas in a bid to literally "starve the city into submission," as reported by the London Telegraph. This latest boast by rebels, now operating openly with notorious Al Qaeda members leading their fighters, and still with full military support from NATO, seems to suggests that water will be cut as well.
"Whoever knowingly provides material support or resources to a foreign terrorist organization, or attempts or conspires to do so, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 15 years, or both, and, if the death of any person results, shall be imprisoned for any term of years or for life. To violate this paragraph, a person must have knowledge that the organization is a designated terrorist organization (as defined in subsection (g)(6)), that the organization has engaged or engages in terrorist activity (as defined in section 212(a)(3)(B) of the Immigration and Nationality Act), or that the organization has engaged or engages in terrorism (as defined in section 140(d)(2) of the Foreign Relations Authorization Act, Fiscal Years 1988 and 1989)." -USC § 2339B. More than ten days ago NATO sponsored rebel terrorists streamed into the Libyan capital, Tripoli. Since then the picture is less clear and the future holds many questions. What the cheerleading western media rather streams out is more and more propaganda from the terrorist headquarters in Benghazi. The supposedly new government has not moved to Tripoli. Perhaps, they are frolicking in Paris with Sarkozy. After bombing Libya into stone age, the humanitarian situation remains precarious. The terrorist rebel National Transitional Council has not installed itself in any organized fashion as a government-in-waiting and there appears little command and control over the disparate groups of fighters roaming the brothels of Tripoli. In a tactical move, Libya's Brother Leader Colonel Muammar Gadhafi has retreated like a desert fox knowing too well he has control of his country.
Libya: Tripoli Stands in Defiance of NATO Reports of rebel leaders presiding over Tripoli a confirmed lie. By Tony Cartalucci
Despite sweeping headlines claiming the Benghazi rebel terrorists have shifted their leadership over to Tripoli after continuous claims of the city falling to rebels after over a week of continuous fighting, BBC has slipped out the fact that this claim is a verified lie. Buried within an article titled, "Horror scenes at Tripoli hospital," BBC conceded that the rebels have constructed a makeshift landing strip in the western Nafusa mountains where they are "reported to be staying," only visiting Tripoli in daytime for quick photo opportunities. The article continues by also conceding the self-proclaimed, unelected leader of the rebels, Abdul Jalil and "other key leaders" are staying in the east because of "the lack of security in Tripoli." That is of course when these "key leaders" aren't groveling in Doha, Paris, and Rome before their Western sponsors.....This definitively exposes the current operations inside Libya as a desperate psychological war with the corporate media explicitly deceiving the public with misleading headlines under which facts are buried by mountains of minutia, carefully worded propaganda, unverified innuendos, and outright lies...More
