Ghost Town Harbingers Arrested
By Polycarp Ashu
The Mayor of Buea has mounted vigorous defense of the city from unsuspecting hoodlums bent on wrecking havoc and destabilizing the Municipality. Proponents for secession and their sympathizers have made inroads injecting fear into the population, and called for ghost towns two days in a week requiring disobedience in order to run-to-the-ground the economy. Mayor Ekema had the Council Authority purchase township taxis. These cabs were used to ferry persons around town and maintain the economic vibrancy of the municipality. Shops in Bongo Square and Upper Buea remained opened throughout, following his orders and insistence.
Some four persons were arrested by law enforcement officers in Buea for distributing tracts calling for strikes and ghost towns in the South West Region. They were arrested on Sunday, January 29, 2017 in the Molyko neighbourhood. They were spotted, accosted, hand-cuffed and whisked into custody by plain clothes policemen outside the St Charles Lwanga Roman Catholic Parish in Molyko.Their interrogation has revealed many names of their sponsors both in Cameroon and abroad.
