Local Party Chieftains of the Fako III Section in Buea for the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) have called on militants to register en mass and prepare for upcoming municipal and legislative elections. The call was made on March 24, 2012 in Buea at the Youth and Animation Centre, by Honourable Emilia Monjoa Lifaka the Leader of the Central Committee Delegation to Buea. She urged militants and sympathisers of the party to actively participate in the recompilation of Cameroon's electoral register and be genuine stakeholders to Cameroon's destiny.
In the presence of the Secretary General to the Southwest Governnor's Office Mr Quetong Handerson Kongue, traditional authorities and other stakeholders of public and private enterprises, Hon. Monjoa Lifaka urged the people of Fako celebrating the 27th anniversary of the CPDM Party, to be alert and ready to defend the fief of the party in the region.
Celebrating the anniversary under the theme, "Let us get ready to register massively in the electoral register," Hon Monjoa Lifaka said the celebration of the 27th anniversary marks the beginning of a great campaign for the registration of militants ahead of the upcoming Municipal and Parliamentary elections. She urged militants and sympathisers of the party to avoid internal quarrels and instead work together in assisting President Paul Biya achieve his programme of Greater Realisation for Cameroon.
In welcoming the militants to Buea 'the legendary land of hospitality', the Fako III Section President and Mayor for Buea Municipality, Mr Charles Mbella Moki said "Our standing here today gives us and opportunity to extend our profound gratitude to our national chairperson Paul Biya, for choosing Buea to host the reunification celebration sometime this year. According to the Mayor, the reunification celebration will come with considerable developments which will touch every person in the Buea municipality.
Hannah Etonde Mbua, the WCPDM Fako III Section President, thanked all militants of the CPDM especially the women for giving the party the opportunity to be at the helm of affairs in the country for 27 years. However, she stressed on the need for all party militants to possess National Identity cards if victory must come their way.
The message on massive registration was echoed by Mr Motombi Mbome, YCPDM Fako III Section Youth wing President. He urged the youths of Buea and Fako to register alongside their parents which according to him is a bold step in ensuring success for the party.
The CPDM known in its French acronym RDPC (Rassemblement démocratique du Peuple Camerounais, RDPC) is the ruling political party in Cameroon. Previously known as the Cameroon National Union, which had dominated Cameroon politics since independence in 1960, it was renamed in 1985. Since then, both the Party and its National President, Mr Paul Biya, have dominated the affairs of Cameroon. The party holds a sizeable majority in Cameroon's legislature.
