BUEA-NOVEMBER 6, 2011
- YOUR EXCELLENCY, THE GOVERNOR OF THE SOUTH WEST REGION,
- THE VICE CHANCELLOR, UNIVERSITY OF BUEA
- HONOURABLE MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT
- THE LEADER OF THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE DELEGATION
- THE DIVISIONAL OFFICER, BUEA
- ADMINISTRATIVE, TRADITIONAL AND RELIGIOUS AUTHORITIES,
- DEAR COMRADES,
- DISTINGUISHED GUESTS, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,
This ceremony marking the 29th Anniversary of H.E Paul Biya’s accession to the Supreme Magistracy of our country affords us the opportunity to come together with the expressions of our gratitude and congratulations to a President we love, a leader we admire and a man the world respects.
Therefore, in welcoming all of you to this ceremonial ground on behalf of the people of Buea and the Fako III Section which I am privilege to lead, may I avail myself of this opportunity to congratulate each and every one of you for the role you played in securing a most cherish victory for the CPDM and its candidate at the last Presidential Elections of October 9, 2011. By voting massively for H.E Paul Biya, you did not only perform a civic duty but as people of Buea, you made the right choice, a good choice, a strategic choice and in fact, you made the best choice. History will reward you and certainly God will bless you. As your Section President and Mayor of this community, it is true that I led you over this hurdle and challenge in achieving the desired results but above all your resolve, your commitment and your dedication made the difference.
For once, our section sent a strong message to the whole country by distinguishing itself as a major contributor to the victory of our party at the October 9 Presidential elections in a very special way. You should be proud of yourselves.
This was not the result of an individual nor was it that of a group of people. It was rather the collective contribution and support of all the stakeholders of the electoral process, in that, as grassroots militants, you have for over four years now being struggling to sustain and dynamise the CPDM in Fako III in a very special way. Those meetings you were part of, the rallies you have been attending, the contributions you have been making, in other words, your effective presence in the day to day functioning of the Fako III section of this party has today made the difference.
You at the Cell, you at the Branches, you at the Sub Sections and you at the Sections. You put in your all, preaching the doctrine of our party to many, winning new militants and convincing the doubting Thomas’s, encouraging the weak and strengthening the faint hearted, respecting the calendar of our meetings without grumbling. You identified yourself with the party at all times and everywhere, without shame or fear but with courage and confidence. You who were never mislead to revolt or disobey the constructive directives of the party at all levels. You stayed the course, your time has come, the time to harvest the fruits of your labour.
It is a special moment for the loyal militants of our party and I can assure you as your Section President and Mayor of this Municipality that I shall do what it takes to bring happiness and satisfaction to you all by the Grace of God and the wishes of our people subscribing to the Biblical injunction of “Come you faithful and loyal servants, this is the place reserved for you” and to the principle of “Live and lets live”. Things will certainly not be the same again.
You should not forget that this victory comes with enormous challenges. It calls on us to more than ever before continue to work together and be vigilant. You shall come to realize, Dear militants, Ladies and Gentlemen that this is when people will come to you by night to say their militancy is more than yours. They will even request you to kill “that hen that lays the golden egg for you”. They will promise to build bridges where there are no rivers in their search for positions. I advise you from the cells to the branches, sub-sections and sections, beware of such people. Receive them, be good to them but be careful with a man who will only feed his cock at the evening of Christmas day. It is true that when the food is cold even a baby will want to dip his hand into the dish but as Chinua Achebe says, “when the sun is shining even the lame will want to walk”.
The year ahead of us according to our President, H.E. Paul Biya, will come with a number of options for every militant of the CPDM, which all the same, requires that we exhibit maturity, foresightedness and constructive considerations. We must not falter in the decisions and choices we shall be call upon to make.
For never before in my long and loyal service to this party have I witnessed such a tremendous growth in the ranks of our party in the Fako III section especially amongst our pretty, beautiful and most cherished women-the WCPDM. You remain the mothers; we thank you again and again for you faithful and loyal service to our great national party. I wish you all great celebrations as we fervently pray that the Good Lord who brought you all here will take you safely back to your respective destinations.
- Long Live the Fako III Section
- Long Live the CPDM Party and its National Chairman, Comrade Paul Biya
- Long Live the Republic of Cameroon.
