The Anglophone camp in Cameroon politics has been in disarray since 1959 and will continue to be so until kingdom come. That has been the discernible trajectory, and those of sharp minds know this to be true. Strange, however, was the audacity of some Anglophone architects of the so called “marginalization thesis” to join the chorus of this choir, even leading a delegation to the United Nations, not long before they passed away. How often does participating humankind see evil in politics when and only when their period of action is past?
South Africa made history on the 17 September 2009 with the successful launch into space of its low-earth orbiting satellite, SumbandilaSat. The 81 kg microsatellite blasted into space at exactly 17:55 (South African time) from Baikonour in Kazakhstan, aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket. Mrs Naledi Pandor, the Minister of Science and Technology, was in Kazakhstan to witness the historic occasion. Minister Pandor said SumbandilaSat had paved the way for bigger and better things.
During the past decade, the Democratic Republic of Congo has been the scene of a destructive war involving armies from as many as nine different African countries. Neighboring Rwanda has exercised a destabilizing influence on the region, with the intent of gaining control of Congo's enormous mineral wealth. In spite of Rwandan support for rebel groups in the DRC , the Kagame regime and its allies in Central Africa have received the support of Western powers...More

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, in his first ever address to the United Nations, on Wednesday accused the veto-wielding powers of the Security Council of betraying the principles of the U.N. charter. "The preamble (of the charter) says all nations are equal whether they are small or big," Gaddafi said through an interpreter. He received a smattering of applause.
Hamid Karzai was given the presidency of Afghanistan under US occupation in 2004. The latest elections in Afghanistan re-elected Karzai but they are said to be fraudulent. The United States claims to be promoting democracy, but its worldwide interests drive policy, not purported concerns about freedom, human rights and fair elections...More
John Weeks argues for both the desirability and feasibility of implementing counter-cyclical fiscal policies in Africa to counter the crisis-induced fall in domestic private spending and export demand. As complementary measures, he recommends financing the ensuing fiscal deficit primarily by borrowing money from the central bank and combating any upward pressures on the trade deficit and inflation through deliberate management of the exchange rate....Download
The NEPAD Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ibrahim Mayaki, has called for specific home-grown strategies to help in the development of skills that are required to put policies into practice for the purposes of poverty eradication in Africa. Dr. Mayaki made this statement at the official opening of the NEPAD Capacity Development Continental Steering Group (CSG) meeting on 27 July 2009, in Accra, Ghana. The meeting aimed at providing technical insights for the implementation of the NEPAD Capacity Development Strategic Framework (CDSF), as the continental framework on capacity development. The CDSF is a guiding approach towards strengthening capacity development assistance in countries and RECs, through NEPAD. At the core of the strategic framework is the need for countries to pay attention to national capacities to manage their own affairs.
