Figures given after vote-counting from all 361 polling stations in Douala V after partial election reruns on Sunday October 26,2008, show that the CPDM leads with 47.83% of the votes, the SDF 43.27% and the UPC 8%. With the UPC having an insignificant representation according to the results, the CPDM apparently maintains a victory while the SDF affirms it’s dominant presence at the same Council.

The SDF Littoral Provincial Chief, Jean Mitchel Nintcheu, says the main opposition party is working on making an appeal to the Supreme Court against the election results. In reaction to the results he intimated: “ my feelings is that of anger. The population has stood behind us, and then their votes are suddenly grapped as usual. There were several cases of irregularities, such as more ballot papers for the CPDM than the number of registered voters found in some polling stations.”
