Salaries of State Employees Raised in Cameroon
The President of the Republic of Cameroon, Paul Biya yesterday signed two decrees, the first increasing the monthly wages of state personnel and the second increasing houses allowances for state personnel. According to the first decree, state employees monthly salary shall from the April 1, 2008 witness an increase of 15%. The second decree signed by the President of the Republic of Cameroon raises housing allowance for state employees by 20% from April 1, 2008. Two ordinances signed by the President of the Republic of Cameroon reduces taxes and costume duties for some basic commodities.
Hence forth, custom duties have been suspended on some imported basic commodities like fish, milk, rice, flour and wheat. Meanwhile, the custom duty on imported cement has been reduced.
These decisions by the Head of State come after a council of ministers meeting that took today Friday 7th March 2008 at the unity palace.//CRTV
