About 5.5 billion FCFA has been budgeted to provide antiretroviral drugs in Cameroon for 2007. HIV screening has been free in Cameroon for Children and other categories of patients, however, the Government in collaboration with other local and international NGO’s such as the Clinton Foundation resolved on a major decision for the survival of Aids patients in Cameroon, contributing the sum of 5.5 billion FCFA to Cameroon's Aids Fund. Effectively from May 1, 2007, antiretroviral drugs will be provided free of charge to all Cameroonians tested HIV positive. About 43,000 adults and 4,000 children nation wide are HIV positive and will benefit from these donations. Minister of Public Health Mr. Urbain Olangena Owono on Wednesday April 18, 2007 made this declaration to the admiration of the general population and the HIV patients in particular
